Travelling Solo in a Small Group

Most people here book on their own. What that is actually like, and what is in place if you would rather keep to yourself.

Booking alone is the normal case on these trips, not the exception. A group of 10 is usually mostly people who came on their own, which is a very different thing from joining somebody else's holiday.

Why a small group works for this

Ten is small enough that everyone ends up at the same table and nobody is anonymous. It is also small enough to use a family-run stay and one vehicle, which is why the cap exists in the first place.

Because almost nobody arrives with a pre-formed friend group, there is no clique to break into. That is the part solo travellers usually worry about, and it is mostly a non-issue here.

The first evening

There is usually a shared dinner on the first night. That tends to handle the introductions on its own without anyone running an activity.

  • You are not required to be sociable. Reading quietly is fine and common
  • Skipping a morning walk to sleep is fine too
  • The trip lead is with the group the whole time, so there is always someone to ask

Rooms and sharing

Room sharing is arranged within the group and is same gender. There is no single supplement, and you are not asked to find a room-mate before you can book. If you would rather not share at all, say so when you book and we will tell you what is possible on that departure.

Our recommendation: Start with a three-day trip. Two nights is enough to know whether this suits you, and it is a small thing to have tried if it does not.

Women travelling alone

A large share of our travellers are women booking on their own, and every departure is run as women-friendly. In practice: same-gender sharing by default, a trip lead with the group throughout, pickup and drop at a known point in Bangalore, and stays chosen partly on how they feel in the evening rather than only on the view.

We are not going to tell you any trip is risk-free. What we can do is be specific about what is actually in place.
